Whenever I run into a new word, I usually consult the dictionary, and now I look online at a dictionary site.  And here’s what www.dictionary.com says about neuroplasticity:

Neuroplasticity is the capacity of the nervous system to develop newBrain neuronal connections:

Other research described neuroplasticity as the brain’s ability to adapt and change as a result of training and experience over the course of a person’s life.

So this confirms that our brains can recover from damaged “circuits”.  Unlike bones and muscles which heal and repair themselves, new circuits can create new connections.  What positive news for individuals who have brain injuries and damage.  With this awareness, the challenge for researchers is how to activate this capacity

Isn’t this an exciting challenge!
